Davidson County is where our Nashville shop sits, on Ambrose Ave in the 37207 ZIP. We roof everything from 1920s bungalows in East Nashville and Inglewood to brick ranches in Madison, Donelson and Hermitage, and newer builds out in Antioch and Bellevue. Older roofs here often hide problems like layered shingles and tired flashing, so we start every job with a free inspection and photos you can see for yourself.

Davidson County at a glance. County seat: Nashville. Based in Murfreesboro since 2010. About 7 minutes from our Nashville shop. Our own crews, never subcontractors. Veteran-owned by Navy Combat Veteran Don Hane. A-rated with the BBB. Open 24 hours, every day.

Do you need a permit to replace a roof in Davidson County?

Usually not for a straight replacement, but check first. Metro Code 16.28.030 treats replacing an existing roof on a one- or two-family home as normal maintenance. Putting a new layer of shingles over an old one, or doing structural or decking work, does need a Metro Codes permit. Because the code and Metro’s permit chart don’t read exactly the same, we confirm with Metro Codes on every job.

Homes in a historic or conservation overlay, such as parts of Edgefield and Lockeland Springs, can need a review from the Metro Historic Zoning Commission before the material or look of the roof changes. Belle Meade, Berry Hill, Forest Hills and Oak Hill have their own city governments, so we check their rules too.

What storms have hit Davidson County roofs?

On March 3, 2020, an EF-3 tornado crossed North Nashville, Germantown, East Nashville, Donelson and Hermitage before moving into Wilson County. The National Weather Service called it the longest tornado track in Middle Tennessee since record keeping began in 1950. Three years later, on December 9, 2023, an EF-2 tornado tore through Madison, a few miles from our office.

Then came the January 2026 ice storm. Nashville Electric Service reported about 230,000 customers without power at the peak. The same falling trees and limbs that took down lines landed on a lot of roofs.

What are homes like in Davidson County?

Davidson County’s homes are older than most of the metro’s. The Census median year built is 1986, and about four in ten homes were built before 1980, with nearly one in five built before 1960. Only about half of homes are single-family houses, and just over half are owner-occupied, so we roof plenty of duplexes, townhomes and rentals for landlords too. Older roofs here often have two layers, board decking and chimneys that need new flashing.
