What storms have hit Spring Hill?
Spring Hill was close to the strongest tornado in the area in recent years. On May 8, 2024, an EF-3 tornado with winds near 140 mph touched down along the Duck River east of Columbia and tracked about 12.5 miles northeast. It crossed I-65 near mile marker 47, south of Spring Hill, where houses lost large sections of their roofs. A spotter reported it six miles south-southeast of Spring Hill. The National Weather Service recorded one death and 12 injuries.
On June 19, 2019, microbursts with winds up to 80 to 85 mph hit northern Spring Hill and Thompson’s Station, knocking down trees and power lines and causing minor roof damage, including at Summit High School. In January 2026, the ice storm left about 0.25 inch of freezing rain just northeast of town.

Inside city limits, roofing permits go through the City of Spring Hill’s Building Codes and Inspections department (931-451-0940, [email protected]), whichever county you’re in. We’ll confirm whether your scope needs a permit and pull it if it does. Homes outside city limits go through Maury County or Williamson County, depending on which side of the line you’re on. Most Spring Hill subdivisions also have an HOA, and the HOA has to approve your shingle color.
