Why a veteran-owned roofer matters in Gallatin

Vietnam Veterans Boulevard runs into Gallatin, and Sumner County veterans are the reason it carries that name. For a lot of people here, hiring a veteran-owned company is one small way to support that community. Don Hane served two tours in the U.S. Navy, including Desert Storm, and has been roofing since 2010, with more than 4,160 projects done. When you call, you get a company where the owner answers for the work.

Three kinds of Gallatin roofs

Around the downtown square, older homes have steep roofs, chimneys and older framing, so we start with the decking, the chimney and how many shingle layers are on the roof. Out toward Old Hickory Lake, Fairvue Plantation and Foxland Harbor have big, high-pitch roofs where the leaks hide in valleys and wall flashing, and steep slopes are where our drone earns its keep. On the west and north sides, newer communities like Kennesaw Farms and Carellton are still going up, and there we check the builder’s flashing and ventilation early.

Storm history

On December 9, 2023, the EF-2 tornado that hit Madison and Hendersonville carried into Gallatin, damaging homes in The Club at Foxland Harbor and leaving EF-1 damage along Highway 109 and Steam Plant Road. In January 2026, a Gallatin report showed 0.63 inch of freezing rain, one of the heaviest in the region. After a storm we photograph the roof and give you a written report you can send with a claim. The claim is between you and your insurer.

Inside city limits, permits go through the City of Gallatin Building Codes department. We confirm what your job requires, pull the permit and schedule the inspections. See our Gallatin roofing page and storm damage repair.

Hiring veterans

Don is currently the only veteran at Roof Troops. We’re actively hiring veterans for crew and field roles. If you’re in Sumner County and served, call 615-258-9977.
