Gutter Cleaning in Nashville, Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee

Yes, we do one-time gutter cleanings across Nashville, Murfreesboro and the rest of Middle Tennessee. Our own crew cleans every run by hand, bags the debris and hauls it off, flushes the downspouts, and checks the roof edge while we’re up there. If you’d rather never think about it again, the Roof Troops Home Guard Plan puts a yearly cleaning and a full roof check on our schedule instead of yours.

Call 615-258-9977 or request a gutter cleaning online, and we’ll give you a quote for your house before we set a date. If your gutters are sagging, leaking or pulling off the house, our gutter installation and repair page covers that work.

What a gutter cleaning from us includes

  • Every run cleaned by hand. Leaves, seeds, shingle granules and the black sludge at the bottom. We bag it and take it with us. Nothing gets dumped in your flower beds.
  • Downspouts flushed and flow tested. We run water through each one and watch where it comes out. A gutter can look clean and still overflow because the downspout is packed at the elbow.
  • A look at the gutters themselves. Loose hangers, leaking corners and end caps, runs pitched the wrong way, and soft fascia behind the gutter.
  • A look at the roof edge. We’re roofers, so we notice lifted shingles, cracked pipe boots and missing drip edge near the gutter line. If something needs attention, you get photos and a written quote. Nothing extra gets done unless you say yes.

When to clean gutters in Middle Tennessee

Most homes here need it at least once a year, after the leaves are down. Our oaks and maples drop most of their leaves in November, and pin oaks can hang on into winter, so a cleaning in early October often has to be done again. Late fall or early winter, before the hard freezes, is the time we’d pick for most houses.

Houses under big trees often need a second cleaning in spring, when maple seeds, oak tassels and pollen wash into the gutters right before storm season. Pine needles are their own problem: they mat together and hold water. Those same shady, damp roofs are where black streaks from roof algae tend to show up.

A few signs you’re overdue:

  • Water sheeting over the front of the gutter in a normal rain
  • Plants or seedlings growing in the gutter
  • Stripes of dirt or water stains on the siding or brick under the gutter
  • Gutters sagging or pulling away from the fascia
  • Puddles or washed-out mulch right next to the foundation

Why clogged gutters turn into roof problems

A full gutter doesn’t just spill. Water backs up behind it and soaks the fascia board and the edge of the roof deck. Over a season or two the wood softens, the hangers lose their grip, and the gutter starts pulling off the house. In winter, a packed gutter can freeze solid and push meltwater back under the bottom row of shingles.

Water spilling over the front also lands right at your foundation. Here, a lot of homes sit on clay soil that swells when it’s wet, so that’s water you want carried away from the house, not dumped beside it.

One-time cleaning or the Home Guard Plan?

A one-time cleaning makes sense if you just moved in, you’re getting ready to sell, a storm filled the gutters with limbs and shingle bits, or you usually do it yourself and want a break this year.

If you have big trees near the roof, a roof about 8 years old or older, or you’d rather not be on a ladder at all, the Home Guard Plan is probably the better fit. Every plan year includes a gutter cleaning, a downspout flush, a full roof inspection, pipe boot sealing and a dated photo report, and we call you when it’s time. If leaves are the problem every single fall, gutter guards can cut down how often gutters need cleaning, though no guard means never looking at them again.

Please be careful on the ladder

If you clean your own gutters, set the ladder on firm, level ground, never lean it on the gutter itself, and have someone hold it. Don’t go up on a wet roof or near the service line to the house. Ladder falls send a lot of people to the ER every fall, and a gutter cleaning isn’t worth that.

Where we clean gutters

We clean gutters across all 9 counties we serve: Rutherford, Davidson, Williamson, Maury, Coffee, Bedford, Wilson, Sumner and Warren. That includes Murfreesboro, Smyrna and La Vergne close to our home base, Nashville from our shop on Ambrose Ave, and Franklin, Brentwood, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, Tullahoma, Shelbyville and McMinnville. Our own crews do the work, never subcontractors, and we’re A-rated with the BBB.

Gutter cleaning questions

Do you do one-time gutter cleanings, or do I have to sign up for a plan?

We do one-time cleanings. The Home Guard Plan is an option if you want a yearly cleaning and roof check on a schedule, but you don’t need it to book a cleaning.

How much does gutter cleaning cost?

It depends on the size and height of the house, how many runs and downspouts there are, and how packed they are. We give you a quote for your house before we schedule anything.

Do I need to be home?

No. We just need access to the yard. Keep your phone nearby in case we find something on the gutters or roof edge you’d want to see.

Do you haul the debris away?

Yes. We bag it and take it with us, and we clean up anything that lands on the ground.

Can you fix my gutters while you’re there?

Small things like a loose hanger or a leaky end cap, often yes, with your OK on a written quote first. Bigger repairs or new gutters get their own quote. See our gutter installation and repair page.
