Roofs put on after the 2020 tornado

The March 2020 tornado tore through the west side of Mt. Juliet, and a lot of roofs were replaced in 2020 and 2021. With that many jobs at once, the quality was uneven. Some of those roofs are excellent. Others were rushed.

When we look at a roof from that period, we check the things that get skipped when crews hurry:

  • Nailing. Nails placed too high or too few, which lets shingles slide or lift in wind.
  • Starter strips at the eaves and rakes, which keep the first row sealed down.
  • Flashing at walls and chimneys, reused or skipped instead of replaced.
  • Ventilation that doesn’t match the attic, which cooks shingles and causes winter moisture.

If your roof was replaced back then and you’ve started losing shingles or seeing stains, it may be how it was installed, not the shingles. We’ll show you photos of what we find, and if it’s a quick fix, that’s all we’ll quote.

Older homes off Lebanon Road and Old Mt. Juliet

Older homes here have their own issues: aging chimney flashing, pipe boots cracked by years of sun, and sometimes a second roof layered over the first. We look extra hard at flashing and decking on those houses.

How a repair works

  1. Free inspection, roof and attic, with photos.
  2. A written quote. No pressure.
  3. Our own crew does it, never subcontractors. Most repairs take a few hours.
  4. If we find rotted decking, you see photos and approve a written change order first.
  5. Clean-up and a magnet sweep for nails.

Repairs carry our lifetime workmanship warranty. After hail or wind, see storm damage repair. We document the damage for your insurer with photos and a written estimate, and you work with them on the claim. When it’s time for a new roof, see roof replacement and Acorn Finance.

Mt. Juliet roof repair questions

My roof was replaced after the 2020 tornado. Why is it already having problems?

Many roofs went on fast in 2020 and 2021, and quality was uneven. Nailing, starter strips, flashing and ventilation are the usual culprits. We check them and show you photos.

Yes. We replace the missing shingles, check the nailing and starter strip in that area, and hand-seal what’s around it. If the whole roof was nailed wrong, we’ll show you and explain your options.

Do you serve Mount Juliet and Wilson County?

Yes. Wilson County is one of the 9 counties we serve, about 45 minutes from our Murfreesboro office.
