Old-fashioned values, from a Navy veteran
Shelbyville is a handshake kind of town. People here want to know who they’re dealing with. Don Hane served two tours in the U.S. Navy, including Desert Storm, and has been roofing Middle Tennessee since 2009. He doesn’t send a salesperson and disappear. Our own crews do the work, never subcontractors, and the plan you agree to in writing is the plan we build.
Historic homes in town, barns in the county
Near the square, the East and West Shelbyville historic areas have homes from the 1800s into the 1940s, including along Bland and Magnolia avenues, and the city has local historic districts on Belmont Street, Frierson Eakin and South Brittain with their own design guidelines. On those older homes we check the decking, chimney and number of shingle layers before we quote.
This is Walking Horse country, and out toward Wartrace, Bell Buckle and Unionville the house is often only one of the roofs. Barns, horse barns and shops are a good fit for metal roofing. We’ll price metal and shingles side by side so you can compare, and most metal roofs take about 1 day on average.
Hail along Midland Road
On May 8, 2024, the National Weather Service took reports of golf-ball-size hail near the Shelbyville airport, including one stone measuring 2 inches. Hail like that cracks shingles and dents gutters, vents and metal panels. On April 5, 2017, an EF-1 tornado touched down southwest of town and tore up barns and some home roofs. After a storm we fly a drone over the roof, photograph the damage and give you a written report you can send with a claim. The claim itself is between you and your insurer.
Inside city limits, permits go through the City of Shelbyville Building and Codes Department. We confirm the permit and any historic design requirements for your address, pull the permit and schedule the inspections.
